Postgraduate programme

The department conducts MD, DPMR and DNB training in PMR with a total intake of 6 students in a year

Rehabilitation Technician Course

One year certificate course in prosthetics and orthotics is being started from this academic year with an annual intake of 10 students. The course is approved by the RCI and is the only one institute in the state which runs this course.

Research Programme

A research project on the use of Low Temperature Thermoplastics is being undertaken in collaboration with the Dept. of Biomechanics, National Institute of Technology, Calicut and funded by the Dept. of science and Technology, Govt. of India. Few more projects are submitted / being submitted to the DST / ICMR for approval.

DDRC (District Disability Rehabilitation Centre)

The DDRC, a central government scheme for the disabled is run by the department under the HDS through which a number of medical camps are being organized to detect disability, issue disability certificates and provide aids and appliances for the disabled.

Leprosy Rehabilitation Surgery

This department is identified as one of the nine nodal centres by the Government of India to carry out surgical rehabilitation of leprosy affected persons as part of integration of leprosy rehabilitation in PMR.
