MBBS:  200 students are admitted every year. Their academic skills and result interpretation skills are assessed by conducting seminars and periodic examinations (both theory and practical). All the students acquire the fundamental knowledge regarding Biochemistry before they reach the clinical postings in the 3rd semester. 

BDS: We conduct theory and practical classes for BDS (40 students every year) 

B.Sc Nursing:   60 students admitted every year for B.Sc Nursing. They have  total 40 hours of theory classes.

D.Pharm:  We also conduct theory and practical classes for D.Pharm students studying in the college of pharmacy .

DMLT: A total of 50 students who join DMLT course  are given theory and intensive laboratory training.  For these students, thorough practical knowledge and skill  is assured.

            Thus medical as well as paramedical students are beneficiaries of this department 

      In addition to the learning pattern stipulated in the curriculum for various courses, we also encourage  the students to acquire more knowledge in biochemistry by conducting various extra curricular activities.

             

Budding Scientists

KVYP(Kishore Vyjnanic Yojanan Prakashan) Scholarship: Students are encouraged to do short term research projects and trained to get acquainted with research activities. These project reports are submitted to ICMR for eligibility to gain the KVYP scholarship.

Dr. Sudha Narayanan Memorial Prize Award:

            The endowment award is in memory of Dr.Sudha Narayanan who was a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Medical College, Calicut from 1991-1994.      The amount for the endowment was collected by contributions from colleagues and friends of Dr.Sudha Narayanan.  The amount collected was  deposited as fixed deposit and the interest accrued annually is  used for the award every year.

           The award is presented to the best student in Biochemistry of Calicut Medical College. The winner is selected by conducting a special prize examination. Top ten students of Ist MBBS as assessed by internal assessment

marks are eligible to appear for the examination. The examination is conducted by the Professor of Biochemistry, Medical College, Calicut.

      The award includes a Medal, Certificate of Merit and cash award
