      The department is located on the ground Floor of the Teaching  Block  opposite the main entrance ,in the western end. Clinical  services are provided  in Medical College Hospital.

PREVENTIVE CLINIC (OP 60)                     

• Immunization services especially antirabies prophylaxis

• OP  (9am -12 noon) ,Functions on all days round the year

• Casualty services provided  for animal bite cases.

• 6000 cases managed annually.

RNTCP Registration Clinic ( OP 60) 

• Conducted in collaboration with Medical College RNTCP unit.(ICD)

• ( 10 am-12 noon)  Monday – Saturday

LOCAL OP (urban): (NMCH) 

• OP : 8AM-11 AM ( Monday to Saturday)

• 100 patients attend daily . 

MALARIA DIAGNOSIS 

• Available in the Department  Laboratory from 9am-4pm ( All working days)

• 600-700 smears examined / year

• Drugs issued as per National Program 

REGIONAL PREVENTION OF EPIDEMIC & INFECTIOUS DISEASE CELL: 

         PEID Cell coordinates Disease Surveillance program in the Medical College and

assists with epidemic  response in North Kerala. 

MEDICAL COLLEGE HEALTH UNIT CHERUPPA : 

            OP :   8 AM - 12 noon

• Immunisation  services –Wednesday 9am-1pm

• Outreach immunization in Subcentres

• Antenatal clinic and Family Planning: -Thursday  (8am -12 noon)

• Adolescent and Geriatric clinics

     In 2005 -  88050 OP patients and 150 inpatients were treated.

 HEALTH EDUCATION           

            Assists  with IEC Services  in schools,colleges ,other agencies and media. 

OUTREACH PROGRAMS           

Assists with outreach programs for  National Health programs ,social agencies and NGOs.
