Introduction:
Neurologists specialize in
diagnosing, treating and researching diseases affecting the central
and peripheral nervous system. They work as a team with other
departments like Neurosurgery, Psychiatry & Psychology,
Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain & Palliative Care, Physical
Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neuroradiology and many other areas.
We deal with various diseases like Epilepsy, Head Ache, Stroke,
Parkinson ’s disease and other Movement disorders, Alzheimer’s
disease and other Dementias, Diseases of Spinal Cord, Guillain Barre
Syndrome, Myashtenia Gravis & related Neuromuscular diseases and
various diseases of muscle.
Histrory:
Department of Neurology was started in MCH Calicut in
1973, under the leadership of Prof. K. Rajashekharan Nair. DM Course
was started in 1998. This Department caters to the needs of a large
population from five districts.
